NGK Iridium spark plugs are currently the best quality technological solution. These spark plugs are equipped with a central electrode with an iridium alloy coating welded with a special laser process.
Iridium is a very valuable metal, one of the hardest in the world, with a melting point above 2450°C and is therefore very resistant to the erosive action of sparks. These features guarantee a spark plug life that is on average double that of traditional spark plugs with nickel electrodes.
The anti-wear properties of Iridium allow the creation of an electrode with very small dimensions with a diameter of only 0.6 mm. This particularity translates into a considerable reduction in the voltage required for the spark to strike and significantly favors the propagation of the flame front in the combustion chamber.
